I’m sure you’ve heard how important it is to wash your fruits and vegetables. Especially now with all the crud going around. I’ve been doing grocery pickup so this adds an extra set of hands touching our produce! Fruit and veggies can pick up any number of bacteria along the way from the farm, to the distributor, to the grocery store and then to your home. Not to mention dirt and other grime. No thank you!
Some things that may be found on your produce:
- Chemicals and pesticides. Even organic fruits and veggies may have trace amount of pesticides., unless it’s marked 100% organic.
- Insects and insect waste. Because fruits and veggies are grown outdoors it is highly likely it came in contact with some sort of bug!
- Bacteria. From the hands of the farm workers or anywhere along the way to your store.
So how do I remove the nasties from our fruits and veggies? Easy button! With our Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate! I use this one bottle for everything. There’s 50+ recipes out there for cleaning every surface of your home. I don’t use anything else. Bathrooms, carpets, cars, granite, everything gets cleaned with this one bottle. Thieves is a plant based cleaner without all the chemicals and junk we don’t want around our families. Plus it smells like Christmas and provides a powerful clean. It’s formulated with Cinnamon, Clove, Lemon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary. Not only does it clean but it has immune boosting properties.
To clean an entire sink full of produce you only need one capful of cleaner. Make sure you start with a clean sink or large bowl. I fill up our large sink only enough to cover the produce. Use cold water, add one capful of Thieves Cleaner and then add your fruits and veggies. Let them soak for a few minutes, drain and then give them a good rinse. Dry and store as you normally would.
I always wash my produce as soon as I get it home. It’s just easier than pulling something out and washing it individually. Plus this way none of those gross things end up in our fridge! My fruits and veggies come out looking so clean and shiny! No grime. They last longer too.
Young Living actually has a fruit and veggie soak. I have not tried it. I’ve heard people say that it makes their fruit taste like Thieves. I’ve never had that problem with this method. Just make sure you rinse well.
Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate costs $22.50 for members. Each bottle has roughly 60-65 capfuls of cleaner, making each sink full of clean produce only about $0.35 each! How can you afford not to clean your produce!
Already use and love Thieves Cleaner? Let me know if you’re going to try this easy hack!
Don’t have Thieves yet? You can get a sample packet in my shop along with a spray bottle. One packet will clean 2 sinks full. Or ask me how to order!
Are you using a cap full of the concrete or a cap full of the mixed stuff you have made up with water?
I do one cap of the full strength concentrate 🙂
I’m new to all of this, so seriously just wondering…this is totally safe for kids also? What do you think the difference is between the household cleaner and the fruit and veggie soak? I haven’t looked into it! Glad to know I can use the same thing though and not have to make an unnecessary purchase!
Honestly I haven’t used the veggie soak because I’ve heard it’s so strong and makes your food taste like Thieves! I’m pretty sure it’s just a little more diluted than the cleaner. I love being able to use one product for everything!
I have used the thieves veggie and fruit soak for years I only soak for 3 mins and rinse well and mine doesnt ever taste like thieves.
good to know! thanks! i will have to try the soak next.
if you wash a weeks worth of fruit and veg with Thieves, let it dry than put it in fridge. doesn’t the produce go off quicker because its been soaked?
I haven’t had any issues! Just make sure it’s fully dry before putting it in the fridge. Things like cilantro and green onions I dry with a towel and then wrap in a paper towel before putting in the fridge,
