Let’s face it, as moms almost all of the daily chores, shopping, school pickups, cooking and cleaning, plus a lot more falls on us. I like to think of myself as Superwoman but I’m not. I’m just your average MOM! On days when life gets a little overwhelming wouldn’t it be nice to have the help of John Cena? We can all dream, right!? When the help of a big strong WWE wrestler isn’t available, I turn to Hefty Ultra Strong Trash Bags.
Have I mentioned that we are getting ready to travel internationally for 12 days with a toddler? Maybe a time or two! Well, this my friends is when the help of John Cena would come in very handy. On top of my daily to-do list is a list getting longer of things I need to do, buy, or pack before we can leave. If I left it up to the husband all we would pack is one swimsuit a piece! Last time we traveled he forgot all his socks and underwear. So, I am in charge of getting us all ready to go!
Here’s a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way when traveling with young children:
- Keep all your travel documents in one place. I recommend keeping everyone’s passports, boarding passes etc in a clear zipper pouch somewhere you can easily access it.
- Take lots of snacks. Hangry toddlers are the worst!
- Call ahead and make sure your destination
is aware you are bringing a toddler, including the transportation from
airport to resort. - Bring an iPad and plenty of toys. See my full carry-on list HERE.
- Pack a box of Hefty Ultra Strong Trash Bags with Arm & Hammer patented odor neutralizer for all your dirty clothes and wet bathing suits. Plus they may come in very handy if you buy all the souvenirs!
- Get to the airport early and pack your patience.
I’m not sure where I picked it up, but I’ve always traveled with garbage bags. I know it sounds weird! But trust me, you do not want all your clothes smelling like wet, moldy bathing suits when you return home from a relaxing vacation! I also take them camping and keep them in the car. I love all of Hefty’s new smells but the Lavender & Sweet Vanilla is my favorite.
Hefty’s best kitchen bag ever features active tear resistant technology for superior strength and a break resistant grip drawstring. Perfect for holding 12 days worth of dirty laundry for the whole family! Plus, they have a new lower price (cheaper than Glad!). Let’s Be Friends!
Well I can't even start to imagine traveling with my little one. Im sure tips like these will help when the time comes.
Traveling with kids isn't that bad. When the time comes, just try to breathe and relax! And maybe have a glass of wine 🙂
Genius idea! I never thought to bring garbage bags along! Where is parkers bunny tee from?? I love it!
Old Navy! I just got it on Friday. It's so cute.
What great tips! I do not have kids but I'm sure I can put these to use one day! What a cutie, too!!
Thank you Bridget!
Great tips! I always travel with trash bags too! Lavender and vanilla scented ones sound amazing!
Thanks Samantha! I love lavender scented anything.
Great list! We always bring bags and lots of patience too. LOL
You gotta have lots of patience when traveling with children. And hope the people around you do too!
Wow I've never heard of this trick, I'm going to have to try it next time!
Yes, you should! I always need them.
I always have to carry extra ziplock bags for myself. Dirty clothes, rain proofing, extra souvenirs or tickets. It seems like I never have enough!
Yes! Ziplock bags are great to have as well!
such a great idea! and i LOVE the scent of it!
Me too! I love lavender scented anything.
Awe tips! We are flying in another week
Good luck! Where are you going?
You are brave! We have yet to attempt a flight with our kiddos. But we are on the way home from a 7-day beach road trip. I agree hangry toddlers are the worst & the ipad is invaluable!
How fun! This will be our longest trip with our 20 month old so it should be interesting! We have lots of Wiggles episodes downloaded on the iPad.
Adorable post Kerry!! Love the Hefty tip – never thought of bringing them for laundry and bathing suits but it makes so much sense!
Thank you Stephanie!
I do the same thing! I organized with the trash bags though, so if ever there was an accident and my luggage broke they would still be in their designated bag! Great post btw!
What a great idea! Thanks for reading Dawn.
Why have I never thought to bring garbage bags? Such a great tip — we could put all of the laundry in one as it gets dirty and then just dump it into the washer when we get home. (After separating it, mind you.) I try to remember to take a photocopy of all of our documents too, just in case they get lost.
That's a great idea! I hope nothing ever gets lost but better safe than sorry.
This is going to come in handy tremendously when I have kids! I don't want to stop traveling. 🙂
No and you shouldn't! Traveling with kids is fun and not that stressful 🙂
OMG she is too cute! These are all such great tips!
Thanks Nicole!
Great tips! I pack with garbage bags as well!
Thank you Chelsea. They are very handy to have.
These are great tips — I love the snack one — what is it about traveling that makes toddlers so hungry! LOL!
I have no idea! It must be hard work getting pushed through the airport in a stroller 😉
so you guys are super parents for traveling internationally! we haven't gone further than a 3 hour car ride and even that is a job haha!
Oh it'll be a job! But I'm so looking forward to it. This is my first real vacation in a long time.
Great list! Internationally…yikes. I would be a bit stressed but that is so exciting! I keep those bags in my car. I can't even tell you how many times they have come in handy!
I'm a little stressed, believe me! But I feel prepared. And that's about as good as it gets.
Lots of snacks and patience is probably the best tip ever for traveling with kids!!
Exactly! Snacks is my answer for everything. LOL
I like the idea of bring the bags for dirty clothing. That way you can just dump them in the wash.
Exactly! Makes coming home just a little easier 😉
Great tips! I always have trashbags packed when there's a beach or pool involved. Have a fab trip!
