32 weeks! It seems like I’ve been pregnant for an eternity! My body and pregnancy just don’t get along. On top of the hypertension (high blood pressure) and polyhydramnios (extra fluid), I’ve now been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I’ve suspected I’ve had it for a long time but all three of the 1 hour tests I took were negative. I barely squeaked by the minimum of 140 mg/dL on the last test with a blood sugar of 138. I had to take the 3 hour test, which was not fun by the way, and failed miserably. I’ve been testing my blood sugars for about 2 weeks now and all of my numbers have been in range. I’ve found that I just can’t eat a lot of carbs/sugar first thing in the morning or in the evening. The biggest adjustment has been cutting out my chai tea lattes. I didn’t cut them out completely but I try to stick to just twice a week. It’s saving us money so that’s a plus!
I mentioned on Instagram last week that I got to see little man. He weighed 4.6 lbs and is growing right on track. I got to see him practice his breathing and swallowing. Plus the ultrasound tech turned on the 3D imaging for me to see. Not a fan! He looked like an alien. She said it was because he had his nose smashed right up against my placenta!
While I was at Maternal Fetal Medicine I also found out that my fluid levels are just slightly elevated. Nothing to worry about at this point. Which is great news! I still have to go in for ultrasounds every 4 weeks to check Timothy’s growth since I’ve been diagnosed with GD. Gestational Diabetes can cause babies to gain extra weight so they have to monitor that. I had GD with my last pregnancy and Parker was a petite little thing so I’m hoping that’s the case here too.
They also sent a recommendation to my OB to start non-stress tests at 34 weeks. NSTs evaluate the babies health before birth. Basically they check his heart rate and how it responds to his movements. Since I’m high-risk I have to have them twice a week. I was sent to the hospital at 38 weeks with my daughter after a NST so I’m happy to be doing them!
The weather has finally cooled off from the 90’s to the 70’s the last couple of weeks, making me much happier! I’ve been having a lot of swelling issues with my feet and ankles. The heat was making it so much worse! This last weekend it was actually cloudy and cool in the mornings so I was able to layer up this gorgeous baby blue, crochet trim PinkBlush Maternity top. Fall can’t come soon enough for this mama!
Happy 32 weeks little man! Here’s hoping we make it to the scheduled 39 weeks. Mom and dad have a lot of stuff to do prior to your arrival. Our new house will be ready to move into in just a few weeks!
That bump sits high! No longer a little bump, now a big bump! I’m so excited for Parker to be a big sister to baby Timothy!
Thanks Jenny! I’m excited too 🙂
I think you look amazing and I love that top on you! PinkBlush is one of my favorite go-to shops for clothing!
PinkBlush is the best! Pregnant or not, I always check there first.
Yay! Almost as the finish line before your little man will be in your arms. Im glad you and the baby are doing well and can’t wait to see all the baby pics!
Thank you! I hope you mean that about the baby pics because there will be A LOT! HA 🙂
Of course!!! I love your pics!
You look fantastic, mama! Hang in there! I know from personal experience that the 3 hour test is the worst.
Thank you Beth!
Looking good mama, love the outfit! You’re almost at the finish line, hang in there!
Thanks so much Samantha! Just a few more weeks 🙂
